Therapeutic termination with the early adolescent who has experienced multiple losses
Article Abstract:
It is becoming statistically normal in the society of the late 1990s to experience loss during childhood. This phenomenon is attributed to a number of factors. Therapists frequently work with children who have lost both parents before age 15 and experienced transitions between relatives, friends and schools. Although therapeutic relationships must end, representing yet another loss to these children, therapists must promote their ability to think about what separation means and to verbalize their feelings about it to focus on and recognize what has been gained through the attachment.

Effects of therapeutic intervention on self-concepts of children with learning disabilities
Article Abstract:
A highly specialized positive reinforcement therapeutic intervention program for children with learning disabilities and behavior disorders increased the children's self concept significantly in an eight day study. The Multidimensional Self-Concept Scale (MSCS) was used to examine academic, competency, affect, and social areas of self concept, and competency and affect showed the most change along with total self concept. The study compared children in the program, children with similar disabilities in typical school settings, and children with no disabilities.

Intervention for victims of child sexual abuse: an evaluation of the children's advocacy model
Article Abstract:
Coordination among different agencies can be effective in reducing the trauma of child abuse victims during intervention. A multidisciplinary team approach adopted by Child Advocacy Centers (CAC) in the US reveals mixed response. The parents of child victims find improvements in the latter's behavior and emotions after the CAC intervention. The children, however, reveal mixed feelings about the investigation interviews conducted by CAC. Although the interview is sensitive to trauma, 12% of the children expressed dissatisfaction after the interview.
