Perceiving discrimination: the role of prototypes and norm violation
Article Abstract:
Two experimental studies investigated perceptions of discrimination. The first study examined if perceivers react to general and specific power differences between perpetrators and victims when deciding if an action constitutes discrimination. The second study aimed to more deeply investigate the factors that contribute to a prejudice attribution. Results showed that perpetrators expected to be in power were perceived as more prejudiced than those not expected to have power. Also, actions violating the norm of social responsibility and actions taken by protypic or expected perpetrators

Integrative social perception: individuals low in working memory benefit more from external representations
Article Abstract:
The role of working memory functions in complex social perception and the use of external memory representations in social settings is discussed. The research may stimulate new ideas about the possible influence of individual differences in attentional resources.
