The socioeconomic development of 15 Vietnamese refugees in San Francisco, CA is analyzed. The refugees arrived in the US between 1978 and 1984, belonging to the third wave group within the second migratory phase. Initial adaptation skills for subjects included reliance on social service organizations in their communities. The return of Guatemalan refugees: two years after
Article Abstract:
Guatemalan refugees negotiated for repatriation with the help of the Mexican government's Permanent Commissions (CCPP) agency. The refugees were able to occupy the Ixcan Grande Cooperative by 1994 despite the continuing threat of military presence in the area. Another effort involved a purchase of private land in Chacula, Xaman and Fray Bartolome las Casas, so that the total of repatriated Guatemalans has reached 7,700 in 1994.
