Article Abstract:
A comparison is presented between traditional and contemporary fieldwork practices in urban geographical research. Characteristics of traditional practice include justification of study area boundary selections, land-use field mapping, and comprehensive data gathering; contemporary practice includes fluid boundaries, an absence of field mapping, and observations and case studies, while both approaches incorporate systematic survey research.
