Transnationalism and popular culture: the case of Brazilian immigrants in the United States
Article Abstract:
Brazilian immigrants in New York and elsewhere in the U.S. have been found always preparing to go back to their homeland. This psychological affinity with the homeland keeps their interests alive in socio-economic and political events of their homeland. Improved means of communication and media keep them updated on the current happenings of their land. The proper understanding of socio-psycho and economic factors of transnationalism helps in analyzing the phenomenon of creating social and cultural spaces by the immigrants, to live their lives simultaneously in two or more nations.

Music video as communication: popular formulas and emerging genres
Article Abstract:
Analysis of 138 of the famous music videos of the 1980s provides insights into the manner in which they influenced audience perceptions about music videos as a channel of communication. The eloquence of music video is less discourse, education or study-telling than a narrative of musical performance. Video-makers employ images of guitar playing, drumming and dancing to seduce viewers into buying records, tapes and CDs.
