Why Wilco is the future of music
Article Abstract:
Record labels are threatened by technologies that give fans access to music in more ways than one and the music industry pleads with Congress for more laws to control the fans. However, amid this war, the band Wilco and its leader Jeff Tweedy released the tracks of their fourth album, 'Yankee Hotel Foxtrot' on the Internet after Warner label refused to release it, which went on to become an extraordinary success, thus encouraging audiences collaboration and not treating them like thieves.

Digital technology could have a ruinous impact on the recording industry. The record labels blame piracy for their problems, but in the long term, making it difficult for users to swap files online is not likely to suffice as a response.
