Australian motorcycle racer Anthony Gobert won AMA'S 1998 Superbike Championship held in Phoenix, AZ. Gobert road a Vance & Hines Ducati bike to the finish line. Fellow Australian Mat Mladin who rode a Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R750 won second place.

Honda is developing a new motorcycle which uses an innovative, earth-friendly combustion system. Designated the EXP-2, the motorcycle will be tested in the 1995 Grenada-Dakar race.
