Skiers consider their sport a challenge, and feel it is a way to measure self against nature. A dream trip to Alta, Utah is described, including the viewing of breathtaking scenery such as 11,068-foot Mount Baldy, and the challenge of the slopes along rock formations at Devil's Castle.

A personal narrative of skiing close to home in Montana is described with emphasis on its attractions. Three of the state's sixteen ski areas were explored including Bear Paw Ski Bowl, Maverick Mountain and Turner Mountain.
