A peek under the skirts
Article Abstract:
The finalists to the America's Cup '95 sailboat competitions were asked to reveal their keels in keeping with the spirit of openness that characterized the games. Inspection of the keels showed that each boat sported very similarly constructed equipment. It is suggested that the shape of the hull, more than the keel, is a deciding factor in the speed of the boat.
