The $220 Peak 1 Apollo is a versatile tent which features wrap-around mesh and quick-buckle fly. The 6 lb 10 oz tent provides excellent weather protection and ventilation but headroom is tight for those over 6 ft. The vestibule is convenient, but too large.

Garuda Trikaya tent
Article Abstract:
The Garuda Trikaya tent is a good, all-season, three-person tent that weighs nine pounds. The tent is expensive at $695, weighs a bit much and is complicated to set up, but the advantages are comfort, roominess, ventilation and strength.

PUR Hiker water filter
Article Abstract:
This $45 water filter is easy to use and weighs only 11 oz. It is simply constructed and great for most uses. Those traveling to developing countries, however, will need a more sophisticated system to kill all impurities.
