Troy Aikman, dissatisfied with the 1996 season and the general lack of discipline on the Dallas Cowboys team, was prepared to resign at the age of 30. However, team owner Jerry Jones assured Aikman that a program of discipline would be installed and persuaded his quarterback to stay with the team.
