A Formula 271 powerboat with a stock 415-hp Mercury Marine V-8 engine was tested for performance both before and after the engine was upgraded by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. The modification increased the power to 535 hp and increased the top speed from 63 mph to 75.9 mph.
