China hopes to develop a ski team. The nation does not posess the funds for training, but with donations, skiable terrain in the Tianshan Mountains, and livestock for a lift system, attempts to teach Chinese to ski are underway. Two visiting western skiiers offer herdsmen some ski tips.

Temple Basin is a forbidding ski resort a short distance from the capital city of Christchurch, New Zealand. The resort sells only 200 passes each winter. A 2000-foot hike up a slippery mountain slope leads to Temple Basin lodge. One skiier's experiences at the resort are detailed.
