The Lau Archipelago of Fiji lies halfway between Melanesian Fiji and Polynesian Tonga and the islanders have resisted modernization by closing their doors to all forms of tourism and by restricting residency to native Fijians. After the Cruising permit to the Island a sailor and his family visited Fiji, which he recalls as an adventurous sailing experience.

Unsound on the sound
Article Abstract:
A Long Island Sound sailor has recounted his experience of sailing where everything went wrong right from the beginning. He along with his daughter, Melissa were aboard the 'Flotsam', their Ranger 23 for a late-afternoon sail in October 2003.
