A mother's own way to transform her sons into desirable shipmates is described. Though the mother had imbibed many shipping lessons from her father, it was clear that her techniques weren't going to work for her 41-foot sloop Reveille- with which she entered in the 2004 Newport Bermuda Race along with her husband, her two sons and her two longtime friends.

Article Abstract:
It is easier to prepare and face the squalls during daylight hours when one can see clearly. The squalls are part and parcel of sailing in the tropics and many cruising tips are mentioned.
