Dangers in the wind?
Article Abstract:
A discussion on the precautions that the sailors should take to protect themselves from the attack of armed pirates is presented. It is suggested that if there is any suspicion one should radio an alarm, throw on the deck lights, position air horns, fire extinguishers, flare guns, high intensity lights and long trajectory wasp spray to help repel intruders before they climb abroad and if necessary escape through the forward hatch.

The windless window
Article Abstract:
A cruiser onboard Ithaka from San Blas off Panama to the Cayos Vivarillo, off Honduras remains very attentive to weather forecasts from faxes, Grib files and news from SSB. He believes that the weather window is an illusion and that even with enough 'data', it is difficult to predict what lies ahead.
