Effect of altitude training on the peroxidation and antioxidant enzymes in sportsmen
Article Abstract:
This article examines the effects of physical training in high-altitude conditions on antioxidant and peroxidation enzyme responses in rowers and kayakers. Findings indicate that high-altitude training resulted in higher lactic acid concentrations, increased free-radical generation, and an intensification of cataclase and superoxide dismutase activity.

Antioxidant administration inhibits exercise-induced thymocyte apoptosis in rats
Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate that two consecutive days of exercise, for 60-90 minute a day, induces DNA fragmentation indicating exercise-induced thymocyte apoptosis in rats and is prevented by the administration of butylated hydroxyanisole. Data also suggest involvement of a reactive oxygen species in thymocyte apoptosis induction.

Responses to training in cross-country skiers
Article Abstract:
This article evaluates whether cross-country skiers who did not benefit from high volume and low intensity would improve if high-intensity training was doubled for a year. Results suggest this technique could be helpful.
