Results reveal that long-term orally administered creatine coupled with the resistance training increases muscle strength and size possibly due to myofibrillar protein synthesis.

Effects of oral creatine and resistance training on myogenic regulatory factor expression
Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate that muscle creatine kinase mRNA expression increases with creatine supplementation coupled with resisance training. This mRNA increase is accompanied by an increased expression of myogenin and myogenic regulatory factor 4. Together, these enhance myosin heavy chain expression, which is known to be mediated by creatine.

Functional adaptability of muscle fibers to long-term resistance exercise
Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate that slow and fast vastus lateralis muscle fibers of the resistance trined subjects are larger in cross-sectional area than those of sedentary subjects. Data indicate that muscle fibers from the resistance trained subjects generate 37 to 54% greater peack calcium-activated force and 35 to 40% greater peak power than the sedentary subjects.
