Every which way but up; we test four fishfinders that look in new directions

Four transducers are compared: Humminbird's $379 Wide Vision, Bottom Line's $549 Tournament Master SF3, Apelco's $970 560, and Interphase's $929 Sea Scout. The Humminbird and the Bottom line performed best in shallow water, while the Apelco and the Interphase were capable of both shallow and deep-water work.

Three small fishfinders with liquid crystal displays are rated: the Apelco 460 ($484), the Furuno LS-6000 ($1,065) and the Si-Tex LCS-300 ($849). Each unit is easy to install and offers good performance.
