Factorial integrity of the sport anxiety scale: A methodological note and revised scoring recommendations
Article Abstract:
The current sport anxiety scale (SAS) subscales are not appropriate for children below the high school age level, where the three-factor structure was originally established and an attempt is made to evaluate proposed modifications of the SAS on both conceptual and empirical grounds. A new scoring system is recommended that deletes two troublesome Concentration Disruption items and one Somatic Anxiety item, preserving separate and factorially consistent Somatic, Worry, and Concentration Disruption subscales.

Effects of a motivational climate intervention for coaches on young athletes' sport performance anxiety
Article Abstract:
The effects of a cognitive-behavioral intervention for coaches on performance anxiety changes in young athletes are examined. Hierarchical linear modeling analyses have revealed that the athletes in the intervention conditions perceived their coaches as being more mastery-involving on the Motivational Climate Scale for Fourth Sports when compared to athletes in an untreated control condition and the control group athletes have reported increases in anxiety over the season.
