The US Tennis Assn. (USTA) came under heavy criticism for the way it handled the seedings and the men's draw for the 1996 US Open. USTA officials upgraded the ranking Andre Agassi reportedly to increase his chances of meeting Pete Sampras. They also placed the top seeds into the men's draw after the 112 unseeded players.

How I learned to love Lendl
Article Abstract:
Ivan Lendl was once unpopular with the press because of his disdain for traditional tennis and his monetary motivation. Since 1985 Lendl has worked on his weaknesses and has personally matured. Humor, honesty and a new commitment have almost endeared him to the media.

Where are the champions?
Article Abstract:
Too many tennis champions do not care enough to compete more often in tennis' four major championships namely, the Wimbledon, Australian, French and US Opens. They would rather tape commercials and appear at exhibition matches that pay them more money.
