Governing the sea

UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the treaty that establishes international laws aims for preserving a clean and healthy marine environment and deals with ocean pollution, wildlife protection. The treaty was ratified by 145 nations and won unanimous approval from the Senace Foreign Relations Committee.

The differences between towage and salvage of ships are examined and its legal and financial implications are discussed. It is suggested that a boat owner must study carefully the salvage policies of a tow company before availing such services.
