The primary goal for the average golfer is to achieve a zero handicap, a goal that is rarely achieved. The typical game of a bogey golfer is compared statistically with that of a typical scratch player. The comparisons are made by tee shots, approach shots, putting, chips, pitches, and sand shots.

Distance vs. accuracy

The question of whether sacrificing accuracy for longer drives off the tee is advantageous is addressed in a new study conducted by Golf Research Associates. The study found that any advantage gained by an extra 10 yards in length can be wiped out by one bad hole during a four-round match.
