People with a good sense of small who were instructed to inhale food aromas when hungry lost an average of 4.7 more pounds per month than people with a poor sense of smell who were also instructed to inhale food aromas when hungry. The olfactory bulb and the brain's satiety center may be linked.

Research indicates that overweight women who exercise 30 minutes each day in 10-minute increments lose more weight than overweight women who exercise for 30 minutes all at one time. The 10-minute exercisers tend to exercise more and eat less than the other group.
