A state of shock: don't assume a wound or injury is obvious and minor. It's what you can't see that may be life threatening

Signs of shock include labored breathing, damp skin, thrist and a rapid heart rate. It is important to treat for shock even when the patient does not seem to be in pain. Keep the person calm and warm, elevate their feet and closely monitor them for any changes.

Utah's Lake Powell

A kayaker describes a trip on Lake Powell in Utah. The lake, which began to form in 1963, is located in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The best times to visit the area are spring and fall. The winters are mild.
