Muscle as a consumer of lactate
Article Abstract:
Speculation about limiting factors for transmembrane lactate flux is not based on good data. Studies that validly evaluate intracellular, interstitial and plasma lactate concentrations under various physiological conditions apparently do not exist. Exercise rate, muscle fiber type, blood flow, blood lactate concentration, metabolic rate and its effects on lactate metabolism and transport, and hydrogen ion concentration are considered.

An enzymatic approach to lactate production in human skeletal muscle during exercise
Article Abstract:
Lactate production in human skeletal muscle over a range of power outputs has been studied from an enzymatic flux perspective. At low power outputs, the signals that turn on glycogenolysis/glycolysis accumulated slightly bringing low rates of pyruvate and NADH products in cytoplasm. Mitochondrial activities that lead finally to activation of enzymes involved in lactate production are still not well understood.

Decreased EMG median frequency during a second bout of eccentric contractions
Article Abstract:
Lower electromyographic (EMG) median frequency in a second bout of eccentric contractions has been studied. It was found that higher C4/5 joint loads may exist than had previously been reported in maximum isometric muscle contractions.
