Relief From Chronic Heartburn?
Article Abstract:
A sufferer of gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, discusses the conflict among doctors in how to diagnose and treat this chronic ailment. Since GERD can lead to cancer and other ailments some doctors feel the need to use endoscopy to screen for more serious diseases. GERD is chronic heartburn, but can also include chest pain, nausea, sore throat, and cough. The most effective drug to treat GERD is Prilosec, but some doctors are prescribing milder drugs such as Tagamet to avoid rebound acid and potential addiction.
