Team New Zealand is in the thick of preparation and training in their title defense at the America's Cup 2000. The team is testing the seaworthiness of their two boats, NZL 32 and NZL 38, sailing the boats five days a week for over three months, and have placed several improvements on the ship to the Hauraki Gulf racecourse.

A new America's Cup village and marina in Auckland has been completed, and the event is expected to be highly competitive and interesting as innovative new yacht designs are introduced.
