Approximately one of five take-out meals come from delis, but many selections have high fat and/or sodium content. Some of the worst offenders are cole slaw and chicken salad, while some of the best choices are pepper slaw and skinless chicken breast with honey/mustard sauce.

New cures for brittle bones

The Food and Drug Administration has approved two new drugs for treating osteoporosis. Although most doctors still believe that estrogen replacement therapy is the best option for most women, other options now include alendronate or nasal spray calcitonin.

A study has indicated that a high protein, low calcium diet may be a factor in weakening bones. Norwegian women who consumed little calcium and more than one serving of meat on a daily basis were twice as likely to suffer from osteoporosis and broken hips.
