Understanding the physics of sailing including sail force, water force and the ways on how to accelerate better are essential mechanisms to help the sailboat sail windward smoothly. Sailors must understand that sailboats, unlike birds and planes, travel through two fluids - water and wind.

The course of college sailing
Article Abstract:
College sailing has retained its winning formula of many boats, short courses and emphasis on team races for a number of years. Growth does seem to be lacking despite many high-schools taking up racing and in 2001 the future must be addressed.
