Threshold training: raising your lactate threshold will make your running times come down

Runners should spend approximately 20 to 25% of their training time at the lactate threshold, or the speed at which excess amounts of lactic acid develop in the blood. Research has shown that runners can increase their performance by doing this.

Research has demonstrated that short periods of running are beneficial to personal health. Running time in excess of 30 minutes, however, increases aerobic capacity by 14% compared to 8% from shorter intervals.
