Time to go down for the count
Article Abstract:
The goals of the Great American Fish Count are to establish an estimate of fish populations and to enhance public awareness of marine resources. The program was established by marine biologist Gary Davis in 1992 and is currently being managed by the Reef Environmental Education Foundation. Results of the fish census provide biologists and policymakers with information on the population of key fish species and help them make informed decisions on the protection of species and critical habitats.

Have shell, will travel: a turtle story
Article Abstract:
The five main kinds of turtles are found in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Unfortunately, their existence has been threatened by human beings and nothing has been done to prepare them for such critical condition. However, their chances for survival are enhanced by protecting their critical habitats and by increasing people's concern for turtles by allowing encounters. The survival of sea turtles to the end of the 21st century will depend on human efforts in the coming years.
