Trick treats Diabetes? Drug may control sugar surge at dessert time
Article Abstract:
Doctors now have three drugs with which to control diabetes. They are metformin, sulfonylurea, and acarbose. Acarbose when eaten with a meal slows down carbohydrate metabolism so that sugar is not dumped into the system quickly. Diabetics will still have to control their weight and diets.

Interferon beta-1a (Avinex) is a new MS drug just released by the FDA that reduces the severity of MS relapses and slows the progression of the physical disabilities symptomatic of MS. The drug reduced the risk of sustained progression of physical disability by 37%.
