Urgent relief: new medication offers hope for cystitis
Article Abstract:
Interstitial cystitis, a chronic inflammation of the bladder, may now be relieved by a pill, pentosan polysulfate sodium, sold under the brand name of Elmiron. It was found to reduce pain by one half in 38% of patients using it for three months. The drug is reportedly safe with no side effects.

Slip into a new skin
Article Abstract:
Severe burn victims may benefit from a new artificial skin which can replace charred skin for about two weeks. Later a thin layer of the person's skin replaces it for a more normal look. The artificial skin costs about $10,000 for a 40-square inch piece.

A new antibiotic fluid, brand name Atridox, can be squirted around inflamed gums where over a period of a week, it will destroy bacteria that are associated with plaque and tartar. This would eliminate or cutdown on the more painful scrapping treatments.
