Weird science: strange but true solutions

Some marine electronics problems that seem unusual have very simple solutions. A depthsounder may not work if the transponder has been covered with bottom paint during a haulout. Using the wrong charger is a common problem with handheld VHF batteries. Other problems are also discussed.
