Youth movement
Article Abstract:
The 2008 U.S. Olympic team is likely to see a youth movement, thanks to an infusion of support by US Sailing for several new entrants still in college or barely out whose top-five performance in Olympic boats qualifies them for funding and coaching. Some of the likely entrants include Paige Railey in the Laser Radial class, and Mikee Anderson-Mitterling and crew David Hughes in the men's 470.

Clash of the success stories
Article Abstract:
The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) wants all Olympic sailing classes to hold qualifying competitions in Spain under uniform ISAF rules. The Star fleet of the Central Long Island Sound (CLIS) will heed that call only to qualify Star sailors for the Olympics. CLIS will not, however, award the gold star of world champion unless the competition is sailed under Star class rules.

Unwrapping the box
Article Abstract:
The new proposed grand-prix rule developed by a Working Party deputized by US Sailing, the Royal Ocean Racing Club, and the Ocean Racing Congress is under discussion. Some think that the Working Party's VPP-based Box Rule will lessen the speed of the boats while some people agree with the Box Rule.
