Despite progress, a long road lies ahead for procurement reform

The modest early goals in the transit procurement reform are achieved with the increase in awareness regarding the procurement problems in the transit industry among the professionals and operators. The economic implications, standardization efforts and the challenges to be faced while implementing the procurement reform are discussed.
