Article Abstract:
Peter Cotton, president of Toronto interior design firm Sunburst Design Team, says clients want more value since there is less money now to spend on projects than in the past. Cotton added that designers must be able to deliver on value, otherwise they would lose clients. For him, lighting is the most crucial element for commercial space to be well-designed, emphasizing that bad lighting can ruin a good design job. Cotton foresees design styles popular in the 1950s would again be the trend in the future.

Cornelia Volino-Patterson

Cornelia Volino-Patterson, president of the Canadian Federation of Chefs and Cooks since 1998, has been elected as continental director of the Americas at the World Assoc of Cooks Societies (WACS). Volino-Patterson is the first woman ever to be elected to the WACS board of directors. She is also a partner in Mediterra, a posh restaurant in Toronto specializing in Mediterranean cuisine. She believes that it is important for chefs to explore tastes that they are unfamiliar with.
