A town like Alice is full of surprises

Alice Springs, Australia, has a population of 22,000 and one million tourists go there every year. Ayers Rock is a five hour drive from Alice but there are numerous attractions for tourists in Alice itself. Hawks and eagles can be seen in Desert Park and visitors can walk along trails and see the flora and fauna. The Flying Doctor Service is interesting. Camel rides are available or tourists can visit a museum of Aboriginal culture. Restaurants and accommodation are easily available and the best time of year to go is between May and September.

Philippines' funding may halt boom
Article Abstract:
The Philippines' expanding tourist industry might suffer if the government does not continues to provide financial support for marketing and upgrading infrastructure. The Philippine Convention and Visitors Corporation has been struggling to fund essential infrastructure developments and has a very low advertising budget. Many projects have been postponed. Over 2.5 million tourists are anticipated in 1997, according to the Department of Tourism.
