David Quarmby
Article Abstract:
English Tourist Board (ETB) Chair David Quarmby responds to media reports concerning the possible scrapping of the ETB. He says that people with an interest in the ETB, which includes tourist businesses and regional tourist boards, should consider whether the ETB adds value to their work. He describes the ETB's Agenda 2000 project through which the ETB sought to identify what the industry most wanted from the ETB. The resulting strategy ACTION 2000 focuses on six areas including research, training, the promotion of England as a brand, and the development of harmonised hotel rating.
