Dreaming of a white Olympics
Article Abstract:
Nagano, Japan, is hosting the 1998 Winter Olympics and weather predictions suggest that there may be less snow than normal during the Games. Snow making machines may be used and snow from higher regions will be brought down if necessary. A new railway has been built to carry passengers between Tokyo and Nagano at 260 kilometers per hour so transportation should not be a problem. There will probably be a shortage of accommodation for visitors but room prices will not be excessive and local families will be offering accommodation to the families of athletes competing in the Games.
