Gas shares
Article Abstract:
Leisure operators may benefit from increased competition in gas provision. British Gas will limit its market share to 40% by 1995. Independent producers will be able to compete in the commercial sector due to a reduction of British Gas' monoploly threshold. Further Monopolies and Mergers Commission investigations are likely to improve competition potential. Independent operators may offer competitive pricing or service deals. The Office of Gas Supply can provide a list of approved suppliers.

Untapped revenue
Article Abstract:
Generating secondary income from sources additional to the main business area can maximise profits. Several fringe activities producing small amounts are more usual than large sums from one source. Secondary income may be produced from sales, sponsorship, memberships, advertising or franchises. However realistic objectives should be set and plans should be monitored, reviewed and changed when appropriate.
