Greece
Article Abstract:
The Greek travel industry is expecting an extra 2 million nights accommodation to be booked by travellers visiting the country for the 2004 Summer Olympic Games, which will be held during August. The travel industry has been hit by the Kosovo war in the Balkans during 1999, with people deciding against visiting because of Greece's close location to the war zone. The industry has also been affected by customer dissatisfaction with the quality of hotel rooms, entertainment and services, which will need to be addressed by the Greek National Tourist Office.

Jordan
Article Abstract:
Jordan's travel industry is forecasting a 100% increase in the number of visitors between 1998 to 2000, rising from 1 million to 2 million. A lack of marketing has hindered the success of the travel industry, although the Jordanian government is giving its backing to several major projects aimed at stimulating the market. Many of Jordan's religious and historic sites are being improved to make them more accessible and attractive to visitors. Tourism accounted for 12% of Jordan's gross domestic product in 1998.
