There goes the neighbourhood?!
Article Abstract:
The UK residential and leisure industries must combine efforts to benefit from one another, delegates at an industry meeting were told in Feb 1998. The residential sector is expected to increase by 4.4 million houses by the year 2016, while expenditure on leisure projects is at a record high. Delegates were warned about an increasingly older population which will reduce the average household size and could possibly decrease expenditure on leisure. Female power will effect leisure activities in the future. Combined leisure and residential sites could be the way forward for the industry.

Out on the town
Article Abstract:
Cityplex cinema locations are becoming more important to the UK cinema market as the number of city location opportunities is enhanced by a decline in the number of planning applications for out-of-town sites. Promoting the evening life of cities is being highlighted by planning regulations, through the use of positive approval for inner-city and urban cinema applications. Reduced car use and a positive impact on local communities are just two elements associated with cityplex sites.
