South Pacific frontier isles are 'like nothing on earth.'

The South Pacific still offers many relatively undiscovered destinations for adventurous travellers, even though the region is now easily accessible by air. The Tourism Council of the South Pacific, which brings together 13 island groups, is running a promotional campaign with the slogan 'Like Nothing on Earth.' Attractions include the peace and isolation of Kiribati and Tuvalu and white-water rafting on the Sepik River in Papua New Guinea.

Buoyant New Jersey is targeting Europeans

The US state of New Jersey is making particular efforts to attract tourists from Germany, the UK, Italy and France. It has already installed a UK representative, and plans to create a regional marketing group in 1996 with Delaware, New York and Pennsylvania. It is focusing on Atlantic City, which has 12 casinos and a wide range of other attractions. This city saw more than 2.6 million international arrivals in 1994.

They are taking care to create an intimate atmosphere, but can make available a wide range of features, including wedding cakes, photographers and flowers.
