Article Abstract:
Adele Biss, former chair of the British Tourist Authority and English Tourist Board believes that The Development of Tourism Act, determining the roles of the British Tourist Authority and the English Tourist Board will lead to tension between the boards and the government. However she believes such tension should be healthy and constructive, and the Tourism - Backing a Winner, report sets out a framework for government, the industry and the major tourist boards to work in partnership.

Article Abstract:

'No' to tourist tax
Article Abstract:
Local authorities in the UK, which are under pressure to find new sources of funds, could seek a tax on tourism, and the Assn of Metropolitan Authorities has been investigating this danger. A major problem with such a tax is that it would undermine the tourist industry, which provides revenue for those same local authorities, and this is the view of the Assn of District Councils.
