The influence of multiple trips on inquiry conversion research results
Article Abstract:
Differences in inquiry conversion results were examined by comparing visitor number and trip frequency results across five inquiry conversion studies. Results show that an average of 16.8% of survey respondents and 30.1% of visitors made multiple trips after receipt of travel information packets, yielding a .559 visitor-per-inquiry ratio and .770 visits-per-inquiry ratio. Trip number estimation by applying visits-per-inquiry ratio on the study population resulted in increased estimates averaging 37.7%, making it a more accurate visitation measure. Estimates of total visitor nights and expenses were pegged at an average of 39.4% and 34.7%, respectively.

Rural residents' attitudes toward recreation and tourism development
Article Abstract:
Residents of 10 rural Colorado towns were surveyed regarding their attitudes on recreation and tourism development. The subjects were grouped according to economic status and rate of tourism development to produce a 2-factor analysis of covariance. Statistical analysis showed more positive attitudes among subjects who were high in both economic status and rate of development and those who were low on both factors than the remaining two groups. Furthermore, attitudes toward recreation turned out to be a function of economic status rather than level of tourism development.
