WTO's summit condemns global sex tourism trade
Article Abstract:
The World Tourism Organisation (WTO) has recently sponsored a summit organised by the Saint Vincent Symposium on Trends in Ethics, Law, Social and Health Care. The summit looked at the problem of organised sex tourism, which is very common in the countries of Asia, the Caribbean, South America and Africa. It is thought that millions of children are subjected to sexual abuse by tourists, with particular problems in Kenya, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Singapore is battling to build up its tourism image
Article Abstract:
The Suntec City exhibition, conference and office centre in Singapore is expected to attract large international and domestic conventions, when it opens in mid-1995. Some areas of the city have also undergone renovation, including Little India, Arab Street, Chinatown, and the Singapore River. The river clean-up included the construction of riverside entertainment areas at Boat Quay and Clarke Quay.

Optimism high for good year
Article Abstract:
Singapore is suffering from a labour shortage in the hospitality industry. Increased business requires increased levels of staffing, which has not happened, and according to director of marketing and sales at Sedona Hotels International, Christopher Young, standards have dropped as a result. The industry forecasts increased growth for 1995, following average occupancy levels of 80% during 1994.
