A Culture Assimilator to train Australian hospitality industry workers serving Japanese tourists
Article Abstract:
A study conducted on the development of a Culture Assimilator program to train Australian hospitality industry workers who serve Japanese tourists revealed the nature and frequency of work-related encounters. Failed inter-cultural encounters reflected underlying themes. The present Culture Assimilator program is different from past ones because it is needs-based and targets a specific host-national occupational group.

Ecotourism and Pacific Island countries: the first generation of strategies
Article Abstract:
Pacific Island countries have focused attention on ecotourism in light of economic, environmental, and socio-cultural circumstances threatening the sustainability of their welfare. The growth of tourism activity in this region shows no indication of abating but changes to the types of activity is dramatic and some island nations are seeking strategies to diversify their tourism product.

Ecotourism: the participants' perceptions
Article Abstract:
Research conducted at Fogg Dam in Australia's Northern Territory, an artificially created wetland populated by wildlife, reveals tourists' understanding of "ecotourism." Many tourists regarded the Fogg Dam as ecotourism. The survey suggests that a pristine area is not required by the ecotourist if the area is attractive and provides opportunity for learning or wildlife viewing.
