Over 10 million birds representing 30 different species visit Alaska's Yukon-Kuskowim Delta each year. Field biologists stationed at Hartney Bay are researching the migratory patterns of the sandpipers and dunlins but the Fish and Wildlife Dept rules are affecting the hunting by native peoples.

The biggest factor in the Iditarod sled dog race is the dogs themselves. Alaskan huskies are trained for the race, which ideally requires them to go fifty miles in five or six hours before stopping for food and rest.
